A great fantasy: Rangers apprentice Book 5 The sorcerer of the north

 Rangers Apprentice 2007
Flanagan John
Fiction

Will is assigned his first mission. There are rumors of sorcery in the north of Araluen. The lord of of castle macindaw ( the castle up north) is struck down by a mysterious illness and is expected to die. The castle is handed down to his son Orman. Most think it should Go to Keren Ormans cousin. Suspicion has it that Orman Poisoned his father but other think it is a sorcerer Mallkallam. Will is sent north to investigate the problem. He must find out if it is Ormans doing or Malkallam or some other factor?

Will learns Quickly how to learn and act. It shows him mature on his own as a fully fledged ranger.

The book is very grippy and on the edge of your seat. There is a 3rd person narrator that helps understand the book. With this style it takes you into the very center of the book and makes you feel as if you are apart of the adventure.

This book is intended for young adults. It has a good vocabulary that would be difficult for the younger reader to understand. This book Is also appealing to adults so it has a wide range of audiences.

One reviewer from Booklist noted that  the point of view constantly shifted, it is not confusing and also stated, "Will's vivid world will entice fantasy readers who are drawn by the lure of high adventure carried out by believable, down-to-earth heroes."

"filled with rich detail and plenty of edge-of-your-seat thrills"

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is by far my favorite series.
